Meet Team We Here.

    Jennifer Brown (she/her)

    Jennifer Brown (she/her) is a fiction writer and an Undergraduate Learning & Research Librarian at UC Berkeley who roots her praxis in antiracist pedagogies. Her published fiction has appeared in FIYAH Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction, and her academic writings include book chapters and journal articles discussing performative diversity work, labor inequity within academic libraries, and more. She first joined We Here’s administrative team in 2017, and is excited to continue supporting BIPOC across its platforms.

    Jen moderates and facilitates the We Here private communities, is a member of the We Reads and We Here Press teams. She joined the community admin team in 2017.

    nicholae cline (they/them)

    nicholae (they/them) is a mixed-race Indigenous (Coharie), queer, nonbinary/gendervoid, disabled knowledge worker at Indiana University, where they are the Librarian for Media Studies, Gender Studies, and Philosophy. They are committed to dreaming and manifesting justice and joy into the present however they can, particularly through critiquing power and dismantling oppression and domination in all their various forms, cultivating wayward/otherwise spaces where we can learn and love together, and supporting collective liberation and sovereignty for the many beings (including the land and waters that hold us, wherever we are) with whom we share this world.

    nicholae moderates and facilitates the We Here private communities, is a co-organizer of Community Study, and is a We Reads and We Here Press team member. They joined the community admin team in 2023.

    Crystal Chen (she/her)

    Crystal Chen (she/her) is a Digital Educator Support Manager and Archivist at Facing History & Ourselves and has worked in public libraries for over a decade. She has an art and printmaking background and was a 2018 American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leader. She is interested in the intersection of art, activism, and social justice and how libraries can create inclusive, responsive programming for youth communities. She joined We Here’s administrative team in 2020 and hopes to continue support BIPOC in libraries and beyond.

    Crystal moderates and facilitates the We Here private communities, is a We Reads team member, and co-manager of We Together. Crystal joined the community admin team in 2020.

    Nicollette Davis (she/her)

    WE HERE COMMUNITY ADMIN

    Nicollette M. Davis (she/her) is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is an assistant librarian at Louisiana State University. Before moving to an academic library, she spent three years working in public libraries as a supervising librarian. Her interests include critical librarianship, BIPOC community building, community engagement, and person-centered practices in LIS. In 2023, she was selected as an Emerging Leader by the American Library Association. She joined We Here’s administrative team in early 2020 and she’s glad to be connected with other BIPOC library workers and archivists.

    Nicollette moderates and facilitates the We Here private communities and is co-manager of We Together. She joined the community admin team in 2020.

    Jennifer Ferretti (she/her)

    FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL, CREATIVE DIRECTOR

    Jennifer A. Ferretti (she/her/hers) is an artist and information professional living and working on the unceded land of the Susquehannock, Nentego (Nanticoke), and Piscataway peoples (Baltimore, Maryland). She is a first-generation American Latina/Mestiza who is guided by critical praxis, not neutrality. With a firm belief that art is information, she is interested in the research methodologies of artists and non-Western forms of knowledge making and sharing. In 2016 she founded We Here’s private communities and could not have manifested what it has become without the love, support, and labor of the other admins. She’s most definitely a pisces and her favorite group chats are with her familia.

    Jennifer founded the private spaces in 2016 and launched the business entity in 2020.

    Sofia Leung (she/her)

    COMMUNITY SCHOOL MANAGER
    COMMUNITY STUDY CO-ORGANIZER

    Sofia Leung (she/her) is a Chinese American librarian, facilitator, and educator focused on building community and solidarity among Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in libraries and beyond. Pictured here is her dog, Junior, “an almost four-year-old rescue from Tennessee and the goodest boi around.”

    Sofia is the Community School Manager, co-organizer of Community Study, and was a founding (past) editor of up//root. She joined the Community School team in 2023.

    Charlotte Roh (she/her)

    COMMUNITY MANAGER
    WE READS TEAM MEMBER

    Charlotte Roh (she/her/hers) is the Publications Manager with the California Digital Library, where she works at the intersection of scholarly communication and social justice, particularly representation and diversity in the academic publishing ecosystem. She joined We Here in 2016 and it’s one of the best things she’s ever done.

    Charlotte moderates and facilitates the We Here private communities and is a We Reads team member. Charlotte joined our team as community admin in 2016.
